Last week, I experienced “training camp” with 28 other racers on my squad. It was a really great time meeting everyone in person and learning more about the Lord and each other. I love the Holy Spirit so much! He came in such powerful ways during training camp that left me in awe of his wonder! So much so that I had to break this down into 2 parts!

Worship on Yonah Mountain: Monday afternoon, my squad hiked up Yonah mountain with our gear to camp there that evening. Once we all made it to the top, we decided to take some time to worship together on the cliff. It was amazing to sing praises as one squad while looking at the beautiful masterpiece that the Father created! The joy in partnering with the Holy Spirit in that moment created within me a sense of peace and stillness. I could tell that we all felt His presence moving so gently within us.

Hearing Holy Spirit Activation: During one of the teaching sessions, all three squads were invited to get into one huge circle and wait on the Lord. Once we heard anything from the Holy Spirit, we were instructed to do what he told us! I immediately got very excited to do this! I love listening to the Spirit and releasing his power and presence! Once the Lord highlighted a couple of people to me, I went straight to them to give them words of encouragement (prophetic words). The first girl Holy Spirit highlighted, was the same one who was highlighted to my twin Talaya! So we both ended up prophesying at the same time over her! It was so cool to let the Holy Spirit flow through us!  God highlighted another girl to me. One of her tattoos caught my attention. I love it when the Lord wants to interpret tattoos. It is so much fun! The girl had a tattoo of flowers and leaves on a vine. The Lord gave me the word “growth” over her. So I shared that then He filled my mouth with more words to bless her. Seeing a glow and light over both girls’ as I spoke, I was so overcome with joy. Joy that can not be put into words!

Team Description: My squad mentor, coaches and alumni listened to the Holy Spirit to break my 29-person squad into 5 teams and give each team their personal description of what they felt the Lord has for each of us. My team was given the following description…

This description really spoke to my heart because being a light is who God made me! If anyone read my “About Me” section, God gave me the name “Bold courageous leader who is a light to the world.” God is so good! It was definitely not a coincidence that the Lord brought my team together for such a time as this. We are called to go into dark places and shine His light! I felt in my spirit that this team is where I exactly belong. That evening, before I slept, God gave me an expectant heart because I know once we hit the ground running in Guatemala, there is no stopping what the Lord is going to do in and through us!

Roles on my team: I was approached by one of the alumni squad assistants to share a couple of roles that the leadership team thought I would be a good fit for. She explained that the first one would be health coordinator. So I would be checking in with my team every morning  to see how they are doing and being in charge with covid regulations. If they need medical assistance from the doctor, I could possibly go with them too, for example if they got food poisoning or a twisted ankle…Although my medical background is very limited, having this role is pretty sweet. It’s an honor to be able to check in on the well-being of my teammates. Also, besides giving prophetic encouragement, I also love praying for healing. Being able to partner with the Holy Spirit to bring physical, emotional, spiritual healing to people including my fellow team members would give me so much joy!
My 2nd role is prayer/intercessory coordinator. When she was explaining the reason for this role, I felt so blessed and honored. She told me that having prayer coordinators on each team has really been on my squad mentor’s heart and I also actually inspired them as they noticed the joy in me praying and prophesying over people from other squads during the activation and worship (see Part 2 for more info)! It is so cool how the Holy Spirit works! I did not even know that this would be a role. I was just obeying what the Holy Spirit told me to do! Thank you Holy Spirit! I could not have done any of this without you!
